Cataracts is the clouding of the normally clear lens of the eye and is quite common. The most prominent symptom is blurry vision. A person with cataracts may feel as if they are looking through a cloudy window. Most cataracts develop slowly over the course of years. When a cataract interferes with someone's usual activities, the cloudy lens can be replaced with a clear, artificial lens. This is generally a safe, outpatient procedure. Other symptoms may include: inability to see in dim light, seeing halos around lights, or vision loss. If you suspect yourself of having cataracts and it is bothersome to you, make an appointment with an eye doctor to explore options for you.
